- 10:30 AM45mBreakout 2: Securing the App Experience as you Enhance PersonalizationSpeaker: John Jacott, Executive Director, Appsian Modern users expect a “personalized” experience that is both optimized for usability and mobility. In order to ensure positive student outcomes, campuses are leveraging the app experience for the mobile execution of core transactions. However, to fully leverage app technology, they must face the realization that personalization comes with added security risks - as the added personalization is ultimately leveraging a user’s personal (and sometimes sensitive) data. In this insightful panel session, we’ll hear from cybersecurity experts on best practices for balancing security and personalization: How to protect your publicly-facing HCM applications from cybercriminals that might be accessing your systems via compromised credentials How to maintain strict data governance, risk, and compliance policies How personalization enables productivity – and why it’s worth the added security risk!
- 11:15 AM45mBreakout 1: Charting the Course for Mobile and Getting Everyone On BoardSpeaker: Todd Sutton, Associate Vice Chancellor for Learning Technology and Client Services, UNCG This presentation will take you through the steps taken by UNC Greensboro as they quickly launched a mobile app for the University. The goals were to eliminate an old white-labeled app that hadn’t been maintained for a number of years, bring the benefits of today’s mobile technology into the hands of key audiences, and help communicate key messages and information to those audiences in a cost-effective way with an exceptional user experience. Overlaid with a nautical voyage theme you’ll sail through the decisions made on platform purchase, how to build the right crew of supporters and determining who is captain of the ship. UNC Greensboro is in the middle of launching with incoming students. Returning students and staff will be introduced to the app at the end of the summer. Bring your mobile app voyage experiences to this session and let’s share sea tales.

This is a direct line to support them and help them achieve their goals from navigating through college to graduating. But the key isn’t to only ask them what they want or need, it is to involve them in the process of building a mobile experience for themselves and their peers. Which is exactly what the Modo Ideathon enabled, 240 students from 8 institutions across the country built and presented mobile applications that solved specific challenges on their campuses. Now, at Kurogo only, a panel of students from UC Berkeley, Florida State University, Cypress College, CSU Bakersfield, and TAMUCC will share their experiences and answer your questions on how, through the Ideathon, they were able to successfully leverage technology and build innovative solutions.
