Proven (and not so obvious) Tactics to Drive App Adoption

Tuesday, June 18, 2019 3:40–4:15 PM
  • Location
    Main Stage
  • Description
Speaker: Ryan Seilhamer, Program Director of Mobile Strategy, UCF

UCF spends time and resources to carefully plan, develop, and release a campus mobile app, but the real work is just beginning. Adoption of the app is the key measure of success, but how is this done in the constantly changing, limited resource higher education environment? The success of a campus app is not limited to one department checking off feature boxes, but requires a highly collaborative process to produce content, communication, and resources that matter most to app users. At UCF, the UCF Mobile app is essential to campus and academic life with a focus on offering services, resources, and events to quickly engage our mobile-first users, and increase student success and retention. The session will include our most useful tips and techniques to increase app engagement and adoption while creating a campus community to support an app of any size, at any school. You will also learn how we overcame challenges to increase app adoption to over 80% with no marketing budget. We'll explore the value in creating a continually evolving campus app through strong partnerships, embracing champions, getting social, being flexible, always looking for the next opportunity, and sometimes just getting lucky.
